Parking Alert

From New York City (NYC): The Long Island Rail Road runs between Penn Station in Manhattan and points east on Long Island. To get to CSHL from Penn Station or Jamaica, take the train to Syosset station on the Huntington/Port Jefferson Line. Taxis usually meet arriving trains at Syosset station. From NYC Airports: [Note: We do not recommend Newark (in New Jersey) because of the long travel time to and from the Laboratory]. JFK and LaGuardia are located 45-90 min travel time depending on Long Island traffic (which can be bad!). Islip Airport is located on Long Island approximately 40-60 min away.

The JFK Airtrain runs between JFK airport and Jamaica in Queens/NYC, and connects with the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to Syosset (Port Jefferson line).

SLS operates non-stop hourly shuttle service from JFK & LGA on the first day of larger CSHL meetings as well as shared rides to the airport on the last day of the meeting.

Special Discount: If you book your online roundtrip at www.classictrans.com you will recieve a $5 discount. The one way rate for an airport share ride is $51 for one person and $14 for each additional person. Should you make a roundtrip booking (total of $102), you will recieve $5 off, for a total of $97.

Do not use taxicabs for transportation from the airport to CSHL.

CSHL Shuttle Service: From the Syosset LIRR Train Station, CSHL offers a shuttle service to the Laboratory as a courtesy to its staff and guests. Though we are unable to guarantee availability for meetings participants, attendees are welcome to use this service on a first-come first- served basis only so far as it does not conflict with its schedule of operation.

From NY Penn Station to Newark International Airport:

You may take the Long Island Railroad to New York Penn Station. Upon arrival, proceed to the upper level to New Jersey Transit (NJT) where you will purchase your ticket to Newark Liberty International Airport. The ride to Newark Airport will be just 15 minutes. When you exit the New Jersey Transit train at Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station, follow the signs to the AirTrain. You will go up one level, pass through the fare gates and go down one level onto the AirTrain platform. It takes approximately 5 minutes to get from the New Jersey Transit platforms to AirTrain.


From Penn Station take a train on the Long Island Railroad to Syosset:

The fare should be about ~$10 one way.

From Syosset you can take a taxi to the Laboratory. Fare should be $8 ($2 each additional person)

Also, from the Port Jefferson Ferry:Taking the Bridgeport/Port Jefferson ferry. Once he docks follow Route 112 to the Long Island Expressway (495). Get off at Route 110 North and travel to Route 25 (Jericho Turnpike) and make a left (west). Approx. 2 miles be looking for an intersection with a diner on the left and a gas station on the right. That's Oakwood Road make a right. Follow that to Route 11 make a left. Go down a hill and there's a railroad station (Cold Spring Harbor) on the left. On the right will be the intersection with signal for Route 108. Turn right and follow this route to the end when it reaches Route 25A. At that point make a left on 25A go up the hill to the signal light and enter the lab on the right. When registering, ask for a temporary parking permit and information on where to park the car.

From points south: Take Southern State Parkway, take the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway (135) north to exit 14E Jericho Turnpike. Make a left on South Woods Rd and take that to its end. Make a right on Cold Spring Rd. and merge onto 25A going east and travel 1/4 mile down the hill. See below

From points east/ferries: Take 495 West to the Seaford Oyster Bay Express way (135) north, take the 14E exit for Jericho Turnpike, make a left on South Woods Rd and take that to its end. Make a right on Cold Spring Rd. and merge onto 25A going east and travel 1/4 mile down the hill. See below

The Laboratory is located on Bungtown Road off route 25A in Cold Spring Harbor, marked by a traffic light and gold Victorian house. Grace Auditorium is the first building on your left.
