COURSE INFORMATION
PLANNING
TO ATTEND A CSHL Course:
Laboratory ("wet" lab and computer-based) courses
are offered at our main campus and discussion courses at
our Banbury campus. Courses are of short
duration, small class size and high faculty:stduent ratio.
Course instructors design the detailed curriculum,
invite seminar speakers and lead the discussion. Our courses
are very intensive and potential participants should recognize
that the hours are long but, we hope, highly rewarding.
Selection is often highly competitive and you are encouraged
to complete the application process by the posted deadline
(see how to apply
and selection
process and stipends for more information).
Acceptance/Rejection: You will be advised by e-mail
of the selection decisions approximately six weeks prior
to the start of the course, and, if successful, then have
several days to accept your offer. We understand that acceptance
is sometimes conditional on the amount of financial aid
provided to you, and we try to ensure that this process
is handled quickly. Course fees: Tuition
packages are all inclusive and cover tuition including all
reagents and supplies, food, on campus housing (students
in double occupancy, faculty in single occupancy, parking,
wine-and-cheese party, lobster banquet, etc. We do not offer
a per diem rate.

Payments: Payment in full (less any
stipend awarded) is required 4 weeks prior to the start
of the course. If you are having problems in arranging payment,
please contact the Course
Registrar without fail. (Your place in the course may
be at risk if payment has not been received). Do NOT
send payment until you are accepted into the course. We
accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
If paying by academic or personal check, note that payment
is due upon acceptance into the course. Checks should be
made payable to Cold Spring Harbor
Laboratory and mailed to One Bungtown Road, Cold
Spring Harbor, NY 11724. Be sure to include your name and
the title of the course you will be attending. We do accept
wire transfers but please notify us in advance. If paying
by two different means then please use the payment authorization
form found here.
Cancellation: Cancellations less than 4
weeks prior to the course incur a $150 cancellation charge.
No shows are ineligible for any refunds (except in extenuating
circumstances). If you must cancel or if someone will be
replacing you, please notify us so we can inform the course
instructors.
Receipts: A receipt will be included in
each registration packet.
Additional Nights, Family, Etc: If your
visit includes extra nights please notify us immediately
so we can make the necessary arrangements. Please note there
is an additional fee of $185/day
which covers food and housing. Because of the typically
very long hours of the course, students
are not encouraged to bring family. Faculty
with families should check into availability of student
housing with the Course Registrar.
